Hesjedal Headed to World Championships

Coming off a successful 2009 season that included a stage win at the Vuelta Espana, another Tour de France, and too may other races to remember, Canada's Ryder Hesjedal is headed to Switzerland for the World Championship Road Race. This is a 19 lap circuit race that covers 162 miles, two difficult climbs and a technical descent. click for the Worlds website

Ryder says he's confident he'll challenge for the overall victory as he is feeling perfectly recovered from the Vuelta and more than ready to win.

Ryder Hesjedal finishes Tour de France

Ryder Hesjedal of Garmin Slipstream successfully completed another Tour de France. Ryder worked hard accomplishing a 2nd place Team Time Trial, first over the Côte de Prévonloup, and keeping his teammate Brad Wiggins in 4th place overall.

Ryder Hesjedal - TdF Breakaway

Tour de France Stage 15 saw FootWorks sponsored athlete Ryder Hesjedal make a valiant breakaway along with 14 other riders including Fabian Cancellara. Hesjedal rode away from from group of 14 and hit the summit of the Côte de Prévonloup 27 seconds ahead of the Cancellara group.

Ryder has been working hard for his teammates at this year's tour, and it great to see him finally out in front.

Ryder Wins at Vuelta

Ryder_PodiumIts been a long time in the making. And just a couple days after a squeeker second place finish, Ryder Hesjedal finally gets his first grand tour victory. This one happened on the mountain top finish at Alto de Velefique. Read it here at Velonews.

Ryder Hesjedal 5th at San Sebastien

One week after completing the Tour de France, Garmin Slipstream's Ryder Hesjedal finished an amazing 5th place at San Sebastien. The 147 mile one day race saw rainy weather and several crashes.

Ryder Hesjedal / Garmin Slipstream at TdF

Tour de France, Stage 4, Team Time Trial

Ryder and the rest of Garmin Slipstream net a 2nd place finish in the first team time trial at the Tour de France since 2005. They were just 18 seconds behind Armstrong and Company. Ryder now sits in 21st place overall, just 1:46 back.

Carnation TT 2009 - Wrap Up

While 2009 started as bad as possible with a freak snow storm and very cold temps, the series ended on a perfect day. Sun, warmth, and no wind. Thanks to everyone who came out this year to race and support the series.
